The text says "Note that in each case where être is the auxilliary, the verb passer is followed by a preposition (en, sur, dans, à etc.). "
But then we have the example "Elle est passée chez Laurent hier"
Surely "chez laurent" is a noun?
Can one use 'une pénalité' for 'penalty' or is that just used in rugby as opposed to soccer?
In the sentence, ”Tandis que je regarde autour de moi, je me sens émue de voir autant de personnes présentes aujourd'hui”, why is ’pendant que’ not an acceptable alternative ?

Are all ER verbs have a silent e in them/? due to the non pronounced e shcwa?
What makes jouer and crier different from your other examples like manger and parler?
In very formal spoken french would you be required to speak these e's - for example in poetry?
The lesson didn't mention much about "par".
Is it really used just for those few mentioned in the note?

If you use the inverted form, the answer key asks for the extra -t- after s'adapte, so s'adapte-t-il. That looks redundant, since adapte already ends in a t sound. (Inverted questions in the present tense (Le Présent) in French - il/elle/on forms)
Is there perhaps a different rule for silent 'e' endings?
In answer to this question...
"Marie vient demain" Now turn this sentence into a question, using "n'est-ce pas"
Why is this wrong? I admit it seems clunky (overly formal?).... I answered "N'est-ce pas que Marie vient demain?
