Just need a little clarification. Is the verb for "to worry" just "inquieter" or is it reflexive? (s'inquieter) If it is reflexive, how would that change the phrase, "I am a little worried" in French?
I'm struggling to see the use of "l" in the phrase : mais je pense que l'on mériterait
Why is "délicieux" placed before the noun in A great weekend and A Thanksgiving gift, "un délicieux repas" but after the noun in A romantic trip to Paris "des vins délicieux"
The answer to this question:' Les femmes travaillent: ________ lavent et les autres cuisinen' is 'les unes'. I wrote 'certaines d'entre elles' which was marked wrong. Is it wrong because it's not what is being taught, or is it wrong because 'les autres' always follows ';les unes' and only 'les unes'? I find that hard to imagine.
Why is the above verb "commence" in the present tense? I understand that after "Avant que" one uses the subjunctive, but shouldn't it be past subjunctive - therefore " avant que je n'aie commencé à apprendre le français.
Thanks
I recently ran across a guideline which contradicts the quiz sentence "Il est venu pour voir Sarah" associated with this lesson!!
'Venir' is purportedly one of the verbs which does not take ANY preposition before the following infinitive when the context is 'come 'to do 'action of the infinitive' ! So he came to do what.. to see Sarah! So (according to that guideline ) the preposition 'pour' is at least superfluous here if not invalid! Please clarify.
Greetings!
Could you please help me understand the meaning of this phrase:
"le devoir de mémoire de la Shoah"
In addition, I'm wondering why "mémoire" does not require an article in this context.
Thank you!
It would have been helpful to those of us who have never read Harry Potter to have words which come from the book in the helpful hints section.
It’s « une génération », why is it « ce qui les » which is plural?
