Can it be explained how in this passage we go from Past Tense and then suddenly to Simple Past? Why do we suddenly use it out of the blue here?

Different meaning between the verbs, approcher and rapprocherThe dictionary meaning shows both of these verbs as meaning "to move closer together." Is it correct that approcher applies to moving closer between 2 physical locations, and rapprocher applies to personal relationships with other people, as is the case in this exercise?

In the last sentence, j'ai hâte de pouvoir à nouveau la serrer dans mes bras, is the translation given.

Please explain the expression, J'ai hâte de. It's hard to see how it can be translated as, I can't wait to.

Whilst I absolutely get that 'vouloir que' is followed by the subj., whu isn't the above a suitable answer to the question - how would you say' I want you to be home by 6pm?'

Which one is correct?

-Il s'agissait de la correspondance qu'avaient

-Il s'agissait de la correspondance qu'avait

Both were given as the correct response - 'avait' in the main response and 'avaient' in the compare your answer box.

Avoir in Futur Simple + voulu / pu / dû [past participles]

As I can see with all the examples the formula seems to be

Avoir in Futur Simple + voulu / pu / dû [past participles] + infinitive

Unless there is a context where an infinitive doesn't follow vouloir, pouvoir & devoir.
