The quick quiz offers this:
"Vous faites la queue avec ma mère." means:You are queueing [US: standing in line] with your mother
Doesn't it mean "You are queueing with MY mother"? which is not one of the choices in the exercise.
I'm still somehow confused on when to use des vs. les. For example, in the translation exercises,
"and boys can play with dolls" is translated to "et les garçons peuvent jouer avec des poupées".
But I thought it should be LES poupées because it's referring to dolls (in general). Is this a case of either one working?
This is a test question. Could someone help to explain how to understand this "en" used here? I'll imagine "Il n'en croit pas grand-chose" would be correct.
OK, after ten minutes of work I *think* I finally found the answer in 2b (it might have been 2a — I can’t look while typing this) of "C'est" vs "Il/Elle est" to say it is/she is/he is in French
My question was how to decide between ce and elle. I *think* the answer is that this is a general statement of opinion. It would be nice if the first answer marked with the green checkmark as a correct answer were the one that contains a link to the lesson/article including this information. Actually it would be nice if that answer contained links to the other related articles as well.
Note that the first answer marked with the green checkmark is NOT correct. More accurately, it is ONLY correct if one encounters this question in the context of a lesson. When one encounters the question as part of a « Test Now » set of ten questions for level A1 (as I did, of course) there is no lesson context to tell you to use ce instead of ça. That wasn’t my problem, but it was not helpful to encounter that « correct answer » while trying to solve my issue.
Hi - I'm wondering why the verb faire is used in the sentence "Mais la nouvelle cuisine fera 12 square meters" and not the verb être for the sentence "But the new kitchen will be 12 square meters". Thanks.
when is the object before the verb eg je lui parle and when after je parle a lui
Hi, I don't understand the construct Regard-ons for Let's watch in today's quiz. Thanks
I have several questions about word choices I made that were crossed out as though incorrect, so I need to understand why my choices were wrong.
I used « En général » instead of « D’habitude »
I used « je n’ai pas envie de courir » instead of « je n’aime pas courir »
I used « passionnant » instead of « excitant »
I used « ils ne touchent plus la terre » instead of « ils ne touchent plus par terre » or « ils ne touchent plus le sol »
I used « soudainement » instead of « soudain »
Were my choices incorrect, or were they just not one of several sentence constructions that could have been made? It is hard to benefit from these exercises if you don’t know!!
Thank you!
What is the meaning of enchaînait as it applies in this particular sentence?:
Il enchaînait les conquêtes amoureuses en évitant à tout prix de s'engager.
It doesn't seem to fit the dictionary meaning.
