Why not "elle devait" since she had to work hard over a period of time to pass her musical exam?
Why is "mon exam" used in the first sentence and "mon examen" in the second to last?
Hi.I have some question which make me curious
How can I compare different two Nouns, adjectives, adverb and verbs That belong to different subject.
for example
I have more books than You have notebook
I am more beutiful than you are ugly
I eat more than you drink
Thanks
I have read that the relative clause after coming the "ne...pas" required the subjonctive. But I have a question.İf I am sure about the matter do ı have to use subjunctive?
for example
Je n'ai pas d'amis qui peuvent m'aider( can ı use indicative if ı am sure that I really know that I don't have any friend who can help me)
Hi there!
Just a few things I noticed about this exercise that may be errors:
1) One sentence to be translated had "...Œil de Lynx (Eagle Eye)..." but then did not translate "Eagle Eye".
2) In the sentence with "...la cape noire à doublure rouge..." a lesson was provided below for compound nouns formed with prepositions. However, that lesson does not explain this grammar issue, and it seems to me that this is not technically a compound noun...perhaps a different grammar rule would explain this? (For example "a frying pan" would be a compound noun but "a black pan with a red handle" would not be, I believe).
Finally, a grammar question: What is the difference between the usage of seul and seulement? (I'm wondering why saying "Seulment le journalist" in the third to last sentence is incorrect).
Merci!
There is a concealed difficulty in this lesson for English speakers who don't know how to congregate the irregular verb "hurt". The examples provided are very good and demonstrate the problem, but i needed a good English grammar book to correctly identify the problem.
hurt (v pr))
hurts (v pr3)
hurt (v pt)
hurt (v pp)
In this text, why does she say 'J'ai vécu', but then say 'Je faisais partie' et 'J'organisais'....
I am wondering why the different tenses here, as surely 'living' was an on-going occurrence ?
Jennifer
For the translation of 'thin, clean' does it matter which order the adjectives appear in French ?
Hello, what is the difference between the usage of these two words please? Or are they interchangeable? Merci d’avance!
