in french how do you say they/them pronouns without it being pluralized? I know iel for they but i’m having trouble finding a singular them
Bonjour,
In this example: Je n'ai pas compris ce qui a suivi.
What part of speech is ce qui?
Merci :)
In the fill-in-the-blank test "Choisir un cadeau", in which one chooses either connaître or savoir (conjugated), two sentences don't fit into the scheme "savoir if clause with conjugated verb or with following infinitive" v. "connaître if followed by noun". These sentences are:
"Ah, c'est bon à _____!" and "Ça, je ne ______ pas!"
The answers for both were savoir and sais. Why?
How do you decide when to use "du monde entier" vs. "mondiaux" vs. "a travers le monde" ?
C'est un village en France
C'est un petit village de France. Can someone please tell me why "de" is needed in the 2nd sentence (instead of en)?
Noting Joan's question previously (~1 year ago) and Cécile's response, I have to ask why «dehors» is/was not recognised as an option in place of «à l'extérieur». I know the usual - can't cover every possibility - reason. However, in practice (at least where I am currently in the east of France) «dedans» and «dehors» are far more commonly used to express inside or outside (the house), and à l'intérieur or à l'extérieur are rarely heard. Suggest this very common and applicable alternative should be recognised.
In the above sentence, why is the correct answer "moins d'énergie que" and not "moins d'énergie que de"? I added the "de" based on this rule: "When expressing there are more/fewer/as many-much [thing/s] than/as [other thing/s], you need to add de after que".
I haven't come across this before, and put "ma salle préférée". Is pièce used for all rooms of a house, if just talking about a room? Or is "salle" acceptable?
Bonjour!
Hi can someone tell me if these sentences are correct that I wrote using the duration vs length of time etc
Je nettoie la maison la journée.
I cleaned the house all day.
Nous prenons le métro le matin.
We take the metro in the morning.
Thanks
Nicole
