In a quiz, I had to write a few dates in French. I used numbers in all of them and they were marked correct.
However, my answer "le 14 juillet" was marked as "nearly", explaining that "le quatorze juillet" is correct.

Although le 14 juillet would normally be correct, I think in this question you were given the hint to spell out the number, so only le quatorze juillet is accepted as fully correct.
