I just took the test on the Plus-que-parfait, "Une Envie de Changement". The fill in the blank was: "...on s'etait arretees dans un cafe..." (Sorry, the accents are unavailable here in the Q&A Forum.)
My answer matched the correct answer,but was marked nearly correct. I would like to know why that is?
In the first sentence of the full text at the end of the lesson, the last phrase text reads "...mon père et moi avons décidé d'aller à la pêche !", but the audio says ..."alors, mon père et moi avons décidé d'aller à la pêche !"
During the exercise, the text for this phrase also reads "...mon père et moi avons décidé d'aller à la pêche !", but the audio says"...donc, mon père et moi avons décidé d'aller à la pêche !"
Since "comme" is the qualifier in the preceding phrase, the use of either "alors" or "donc" doesn't seem to make sense.
I've been taught this phrase in another course but never really understood its use - ça y est. It was presented to me as one of those catchall phrases for "yes, that's right!", "yeah, that's it" as a somewhat utterance one makes to ones self (or to others) that you've been suddenly successful at something or an acknowledgment that you're at least on the right track. So I used this here instead of "c'est ça". Did I use it correctly? I actually had "c'est ça" first but then I changed it to see if I had actually finally found a way to use "ça y est" correctly.
(By the way, why can't I use the hold down the keyboard trick to apply accents, etc in this Q & A box? I have to admit it prevents me oftentimes from asking questions since I can't be precise.)
I'm having a terrible time with pronunciation of these verbs. Google translate doesn't pick it up well even when I play clips of the native speakers. Any suggestions?

What's the origin of se recueillir as a verb for "to meditate"? It seems so different than the verb recueillir meaning "to note" or "to collect". If one wants to say one is practicing meditation should one use se recueillir or méditer ?
When conjugated in L'Imparfait (Indicatif), devoir refers to a past obligation, without specifying whether it was met or not.
Actually, in most cases, the obligation was not met.
The first example in the above lesson definately specifies that they didn't come when supposed to. How is that complying with this rule "without specifying whether it was met or not"
