Why is it 'le jeudi' not just 'jeud'i?

We are talking about a particular Thursday here...

can there be a lesson on the order of two or more adjectives for example

petit , and nouvelle

how would you order them?

une petite maison nouvelle?

une petite nouvelle maison?

une petite et nouvelle maison?

In the bottom half of the quick lesson it says:

Did you leave out 'cela' between 'Comment' and 'se fait-il'?

Why do we use the definitive article (les) and then the indefinitive/ partitive article?

According to Wordreference, they recommend the word, ombrelle, for the umbrellas found in cocktails.  Should this word be accepted?

Hello and good day all. The way to conjugate “All the tickets have been sold” as either « Tous les tickets sont vendus » or « Tous les tickets ont été vendus » confuses me. I understand the first but don’t understand the second. Thanks in advance.

A correction for the phrase "quand j'essaie de manger" changed my spelling "essaie" to "essaye" and I do not understand why. Thank you for your explanation.

In English I think I'd be more likely to vocalise 2+2 = 4 as "two plus two is four" than either "equals" or "makes".  Would saying "deux plus deux est quatre" sound odd in French?

I’ve just dropped a point for omitting the -là in the general statement "La vie était plus dur à cette époque-là".  Could someone clarify the distinction between à cette époque and à cette époque-là, as both seem to be found online, as well as in Céline’s answer two posts down. Thanks!
