A Jamais vs jamais

à jamais was new for me. jamais I only knew as "never" But I see as an adjective it can be "for ever" ! Is it always used with à in this context?

so jamais = never

à jamais = for ever

Agreement in gender and number?

Do these adjectives always agree in gender and number to the object it refers to?

I think the answer is yes, looking at the examples given, but as it is not specifically written (like in other lessons), it's always good to confirm!

would like to see a link between these concepts explainedQui, qui est-ce qui = Who ?Qui / qui est-ce que = Whom ?Qu'est-ce qui + [verb] = What [does]...

It's very hard to spot this difference when it isn't mentioned in any of the lessons.

using "L" before On

Hi, I used "Je sais que l'on ne pourrait pas visiter tous les pays" - it was not correct BUT is it gramatically correct?

From Lawless page:

3) To avoid con

After lorsque, puisque, and que, using l’on avoids the contraction and thus pronouncing (even silently inside your head) what sounds like the offensive word con.

The infinitive and the gerund

The text uses the infinitive for "je passerai la soiree a parler ..." and the gerund for "Geraldine s'ennuiera en ecoutant ..." Why is the infinitive used in the first part of the sentence and the gerund used in the second part?

Who's there? Who is answering these questions? To whom am I addressing this note?

I would truly like those questions answered. I would also like to know why, when reviewing my incorrect responses on a quiz and tapping "discuss this" button, I'm directed back to the lesson that just taught me the incorrect answer. I want a reasonable discussion regarding my answer and why it was incorrect. Because, as far as I am concerned, the answer is correct according to the sentences in the lesson. Directing me back to those sentences just proves to me and my novice, uneducated mind that I am correct. -SLS

how to?

I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. Am I supposed to try and read aloud along with it or just listen to it? And somehow, if I hit the pause button in not exactly the same place, I get 2 voices reading at the same time. And it doesn't rewind? I just have to listen straight through?

Use of lui as subject pronounCan someone explain the use of lui as the subject in the quiz about taking
care of a baby and passé composé?

The answer was” lui est reparti”. I wrote “il est reparti” after lui, thinking lui was only there for emphasis.

I’ve never seen lui used as the subject pronoun. Am I missing something?
