Why say l'après-midi, when it could never be AM?Hi Team,
I understand the below rule and it makes perfect sense...
However, when there is risk of confusion between AM and PM, you will either use the 24-hour clock, OR add precisions like du matin (in the morning), de l'après-midi (in the afternoon)
But, why would one say "Il est quatorze heures de l'après-midi." when there is no risk of confusion here and it would never mean anything other than 2pm in the afternoon anyway?
It seems unnecessarily specific to me, so I chose not to select this option for the question:
What are the ways to SPECIFICALLY say "It is two PM." ?
It's like saying, I'm sunbathing under the sun.

Since you can't end the sentence with à qui (etc), how would you express something like this? "Yes, that's the one I was thinking of" / "That's the one I was thinking about"
Do you basically have to make it more like "Yes, that's the one of which I was thinking"? Having trouble figuring out how to express it in French.

J’avais dû en racheter un nouveau après que Patrick avait cassé le mien.
This sentence is an example from a lesson. Here, plus-que-parfait has been used in both the verbs. Though the action of breaking took place first and then came the necessity to buy a new one.
Would you like to explain how these two cases can be both Le plus-que-parfait ? Here, one action precedes the other so can one be in Passé Composé and other in Le Plus-que-Parfait ?
