The expression "to make new sandals" is "faire de nouvelles sandales"
To say I have new sandals made, the correct answer is "Je me fais faire de nouvelles sandales" but I don't understand why it is a reflexive verb. I would have thought the answer is "Je fais faire de nouvelles sandales"

est-ce qu'on peut utiliser « à côté de » comme un sinonyme pour « avec » ? Ou c'est seulement pour la distance ?
par ex.: C'est notre livre, on va l'étudier à côté d'une bonne méthode pédagogique.

Why was the subjunctive used for « réunisse » in the first part of the sentence but not for « prend » for the second part?
« Mais ce qui me touche le plus est le fait qu'on se réunisse tous en famille et que chaque invité prend le temps de choisir un cadeau. »"Vous alliez vous rejoindre…" Is this construction because the subject pronoun stays with the infinitive? Is something lost if you say "vous vous alliez rejoindre…"

The preposition malgré is closer to despite, whereas the expression en dépit de is closer to in spite of.
I found this sentence a bit confusing as the pairs of words are described as interchangeable (and certainly are in English, apart from despite being a bit more formal) - does that "closer to" just mean that one of the pair is a single word and the other a prepositional phrase?

In a qwiz you were supposed to fill in the blank: "Qui est cet homme ? - ______ Marc Duprée." I left that one blank, and when I went into the corresponding lesson, it didn't seem to explain why "C'est" is used in this sentence. The lesson says that when être + determiner + noun or pronoun are used, then you're supposed to use "c'est". It didn't mention anything about proper nouns, which is what "Marc Duprée" is.
