If I am recalling something from the past, do I need to use PC or imparfait?
For eg: I got down from the train that day.
Je me suis descendu du train ca jour
OR
Je descendais du train ca jour?
Which one is correct?
Pourquoi "Moi aussi j'aime les salades" Elle référence des salades en générale non? Pas les salades spécifique?
cca
A quiz question was as follows:
Je te donne ________ de mon salaire. ——> I give you half my salary.
I answered “une moitié”, but the correct answer was “la moitié”.
Why is this the case? I understood from the lesson that these two are interchangeable.
Even if they are not interchangeable, I would think:
- “une moitié de mon salaire” ——> one half of my salary
Whereas:
- “La moitié de mon salaire” ——> the half of my salary
Thanks
Some of the examples and test answers of used to + reflexive verb use avoir l'habitude de and some dont. I cannot find any explanation for this.
Hello, i have classic Imparfait vs Passe compose questions:
Can someone explain to me why "je n'ai pas toujours aimé ça" and not " je n'aimerais pas toujours ça". I thought this is the case where you describe opinion in the past.
Also instead of "je m'y suis habitué" can I use "j'en avais l'habitude" or "j'en ai l'habitude". Is the use "avoir l'habitude de" or "se habituer" can be interchangeable or they should be use in different context?
In a recent test I was asked to complete the following; Yves a les yeux…….( Yves has brown eyes). I wrote Yves a les yeux bruns which was deemed incorrect; why? My Harraps French English Dictionary assures me that either brun or marron can be used in this context.
Bonjour! For this part: "You cannot say: Tu ne veux venir pas ce soir.
BUT You can say: Tu peux ne pas venir."Is this only true for this sentence? Can someone elaborate on this further and give another example using ne pas/plus/jamais between verbs (like tu peux ne pas venir). Thank you :)
