Passé simple vs. Imparfait"During that time, I was very busy." is translated using le Passé simple. However, would not l'Imparfait be more appropriate here, given that it is a statement about a longer period of time? -- Chris.

Why 'avoir' instead of 'etre' before 'raison'I saw in one of the examples the following sentence. Je crois que mon ami a raison. why is 'a' used before 'raison'. Shouldn't it be 'est' if we speak literally?

About L'An/L'Année

I am trying to find some more examples about the difference between l'an/l'année and I am now confused. For example, I want to find out whether to use l'an/l'année in "I got pregnant the same year I got married." in French. Google Translates says "Je suis tombée enceinte la même année de mon mariage." and another translation software called DeepL says "Je suis tombée enceinte l'année de mon mariage."

Are these sentences correct? If so, why do we use année instead of an? Because I am very convinced an/année indicates a particular point of time here. Thanks for answering.

Is ice cream plural in French?In the weekend A1 writing excersize it gave, "Leurs glaces sont excellentes !" as the answer for, "Their ice cream is excellent." I got it wrong, of course, because I used it as a singular like I would in English. But earlier in the dialog, they also used it singularly, so I'm not sure why or when it should be plural?
