I was taking a test and the question was: Translate: "I am five years old". I wrote: J'ai cinq ans.
The test marked it as wrong and said the correct answer was: "Je suis cinq ans". When I went to the Quick Lesson, there was nothing on using être for expressing age.
I'm confused why it was marked incorrect.
I don't think it's my frequent difficulty with "hearing" French: I really think the speaker says "...intellectuels à l'époque" whlie the text says "de l'époque" ?
